Aqua & Fuchsia Tabletop

I love the colors of look #3 from the Chambers Bay Wedding Showcase. The centerpiece of fuchsia gerbera daisies, white hydrangea, fuchsia spray roses, green hypericum berries and lily grass stands out against the backdrop of white pintuck linens. I added aqua flat wire to the inside of the vase and I used it to frame the arrangement.

Navy, Gold & White Inspiration

I started a 5 part series last Monday featuring the tables we created for the Chambers Bay wedding showcase.  Look #2…definitely nautical.

White china and gold napkins popped against a background of navy blue.  For the centerpiece I tied rope around the top of a glass cylinder and then submerged gold flat wire and white gerbera daisies.  The cylinder was up-lit with an LED light base.  A few shells and starfish completed the look!

What do you think of our nautical twist?  Too much of a theme or just the right amount?

5 Bouquets & what I love about them!

I created 5 bouquets for a show recently and wanted to share them and what I love about each of them.

The spring bouquet of narcissus is simple, compact and makes a statement.  I love the striped grosgrain ribbon!

This bouquet is lavender and purple stock with fuchsia freesia and fuchsia spray roses.  What I love…the amazing fragrance of stock and freesia combined and the hint of black lace around the stems.

An arm bouquet of white dendrobium orchids and lily grass tied with matte white ribbon with long tails.  I love the simplicity.  I think it would be perfect for a beach wedding!

This bouquet consists of green hydrangea, hot pink gerbera daisies, fuchsia spray roses, hypericum berries and lily grass.  I love the bright color combination and the striped ribbon…so playful!

A bouquet fo pale green hydrangea, bright yellow freesia and craspedia (billy balls).  I love the intense color of the freesia and the unexpected texture from the craspedia.

I would love to hear which bouquet you love and why!

Black, White & Red Inspiration

A few weeks back we participated in the Wedding Showcase at one of my favorite Northwest venues, Chambers Bay Golf Course.

We worked with American Party Place to create 5 different tables that I will share over the next few weeks.  The first is the black, white and red table.  The linens: red chair ties and napkins with a black infinity overlay.  For the flowers we did a trio of mirrored containers topped with white flowers.  From tallest to shortest: mercury glass with hydrangea and lily grass, a striped vase with peonies and a solid mirrored cylinder with tulips.

Lily of the Valley: A Royal Bouquet

Much of the world watched today as Catherine Middleton married Prince William of Wales.  The dress was gorgeous, the ceremony had an intimate feeling, there were incredible hats worn and I loved the brides bouquet!

photo credit:  Ian West/Pa Wire/Us Magazine

Though some thought the bouquet was on the small side, I felt it was the perfect complement to her dress and overall look.  It was a wired bouquet of lily of the valley, hyacinth, myrtle, sweet william and ivy designed by Shane Connolly.  According to the Royal Website, the flowers were chosen for their meaning and significance to the Royal Family and the Middletons.  The flower meanings are:
Lily of the Valley: return of happiness
Sweet William: gallantry
Hyacinth: constancy of love
Ivy: fidelity, marriage, wedded love, friendship, affection
Myrtle: emblem of marriage, love.

I loved watching early this morning, sipping a little bubbly and witnessing history in the making.  Congratulations to the Royal Couple!

Deep Red, Orange & Green Tablescape + A Flower Beachball = Elevate11, Palm Springs

Back in January, I travelled to the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs to create the floral displays for Elevate 11 (a photography workshop put on by Eliesa Johnson of Photogen Inc).  I shared some photos I took on my iPhone in an earlier post (click to view) and now I want to take a moment to share the amazing photos Eliesa took.  Yes, I have had them in my possession for a few months now but narrowing them down has been so hard (I love them all).  Here they are, some favorites:

A few more shots.  First, 2 of the guys from Capture Studios filming (you really should check out their work…incredible). And then finally, the group.

White Spider Mums & Gold Flat Wire: Uplit Centerpieces

I believe it is important to be involved in the local community.  Giving , volunteering and meeting the needs of those around.  For the past few years I have worked with Young Life in my area.  The annual fundraising banquet took place on March 6th.  I helped out with the decor and centerpiece as well as hosting a table.  It was a wonderful evening complete with an Italian dinner served family style and a program based on the “Tonight Show”.

The centerpiece I created for half the tables consisted of white spider mums wired to gold flat wire and then submerged in 20-inch glass cylinders.  The cylinder then sat on top of an LED light base.  The other half of the tables had glass hurricanes with pillar candles and blue wire.

Clockwise from top left: the cylinders prepped with gold flat wire; a shot towards the stage; the uplit cylinder with spider mums; the opening monologue

The evening was a great success!
