Tiffany, Red, Black & White: Tabletop Inspiration

Our second tabletop design for the Chambers Bay Wedding Showcase this past spring was a bold combination of Tiffany, Red, Black and White.

The tiffany pin-tuck linens, red napkins, and red chair ties are from American Party Place as well as the china, flatware, glassware and chivari chairs.  Many thanks to
Wallflower Photography for the fabulous images!

We used our acrylic block table numbers (above) in this design.  Table numbers are available for rent, contact Jen’s Blossoms for more info.

A diagonal chair tie finished with a bow was the perfect touch of femininity to this bold look and we loved how it turned out!

Shades of Blue, Silver, White, and Light Pink: Tabletop Inspiration

This past spring we worked with Chambers Bay on their Annual Wedding Showcase Event.  For this event our task is to create 5 different tabletop designs  to serve as inspiration for couples looking at getting married at Chambers Bay.  Many thanks to American Party Place for providing the linens for this design and to
Wallflower Photography for the fantastic images!

I love being able to showcase a range of designs and am kicking off this series with our “Classic” look.  I chose a slate blue pin-tuck linen for the base with sky blue napkins. An elevated arrangement in a silver trumpet vase surrounded by candles completes the look!

Painted Paper Lantern: 3 Days of Halloween Crafting

When I decorate for Halloween I always try to do a little something on the back deck.  Chances are no one will even go out there but the curtains are open and the café lights are on to add a festive touch to the evening.  In the past, I placed a carved pumpkin on the table or lit lanterns around the perimeter.  This year I saw these cool orange and black glittered paper lanterns and knew I could create somethings similar with items I already had on hand!  They would most likely only last a night so I didn’t want to spend a fortune.

The Supplies:
I raided my paper lantern stash for an orange lantern and grabbed black spray paint from the paint shelf along with some blue painters tape.  A little Martha Stewart glitter paint and a foam brush completes the list!

Painted Paper Lantern Supplies

How To:
I used blue painters tape to tape off stripes around the lantern.  I didn’t press it down too hard as I didn’t want the lantern to tear when removing the tape, this resulted in the lines being a little fuzzy which I actually don’t mind.  After spraying the lantern black and letting it dry I carefully removed the tape.  Next I brushed on the Martha Stewart glitter paint (I used Obsidian).  I like that it made the black part of the lantern a bit shiny!

Here it is hung up and ready to party!

Etched Spiderweb Cylinder: 3 Days of Halloween Crafting

I have wanted to try the Martha Stewart Glass Etching Cream for a while now and decided a spiderweb cylinder would be perfect!

Etched Spiderweb Cylinder

The Supplies:
Glass cylinder, Martha Stewart etching cream & brush, and a vinyl spiderweb.

Etched Spiderweb Cylinder Supplies

How To:
Following the instructions on the bottle of etching cream I prepped my cylinder by wiping it down with rubbing alcohol and washing it with soap and water.  I then positioned the spiderweb on the cylinder and painted on the etching cream.

Once the cylinder is completely painted wait 15 minutes (or more) and then wash the etching cream off the cylinder.  Remove the vinyl and insert a candle!

Halloween Plates: 3 Days of Halloween Crafting

Hello!  I’m back from a bit of a blogging break.  This past wedding season was incredible and I am so ready to share with you all the goodness we created!  I’m kicking it off this weekend with a short series on Halloween Crafts.

My neighborhood is huge for Trick-or-Treating and it seems that every year it gets bigger and bigger.  I invite family & friends to my home to have a chili dinner and roam the neighborhood.  Rain or not it is always fun!

This year I kept seeing super cool glass plates with black printed seasonal designs on them.  Skull, bats, jack-o-lanterns and more.  I wanted to pick a few up but thought hmm… maybe I could make them.  Voila!  Using glass plates already in my cupboard and vinyl I purchased at the local craft store I present Halloween plates!

Halloween Glass Plates

The Supplies:
Glass plates, vinyl clings or vinyl to cut your own, transfer paper/tape, and transfer tool.

Halloween Plate Supplies

How To:
I used my silhouette cutting machine to cut my vinyl clings but I know that there are places you can purchase pre-cut clings.  Using transfer paper/tape and a transfer tool (this could even be a popsicle stick or credit card) transfer vinyl to the bottom of the glass plate.

Halloween Plate How To

I am loving how they turned out and want to experiment with more intricate designs!  These plates are a perfect addition to my party decor!

Purple, Lavender, Ivory & Gold: Real Wedding

A mid-November wedding at Canterwood Golf & Country Club means either bringing in heaters for a ceremony under the tented patio or, as Heidi and Keven chose, a ceremony in front of the dining room fireplace.  We are loving the fireplace backdrop!

The Flowers:
White lilies and mini calla lilies, ivory roses, gardenia, stephanotis, lavender freesia, lavender roses, purple stock, purple lisianthus, and smilax greenery.  Gold painted bear grass, gold dusted branches, and hanging crystal strands added warmth and glamour.

The Brides Bouquet:
We created a teardrop shaped bouquet using primarily white and ivory flowers with a hint of lavender and gold.

White and Lavender Cascade Bouquet

The Bridesmaids:
For the bridesmaids we created bouquets rich in color and wrapped with a champagne-gold satin ribbon.
Purple & Lavender Bouquet The Ceremony Decor:
We decorated the mantle with a garland of smilax greenery, stock, lisianthus, and cylinders of floating candles.  Each cylinder sparkled a bit with a ribbon wrap of purple and gold.  On either side of the fireplace were gold dusted willow trees with hanging crystal strands and purple stock.

A centerpiece of gold manzanita branches with hanging crystal strands small arrangements of purple flowers was perfect for this special table for two!

Thank you Heidi & Keven for inviting us to share in part of your day.
Wishing you much happiness!

The Knot Market Mixer Seattle: Personal Photos

Yesterday I shared the wonderful images B. Smart Photography took at the Seattle Knot Market Mixer.  You can see that post here!  I also took photos with my iPhone throughout the evening and wanted to share some favorites.

I attended the event along with my assistant designer (and sister-in-law) Kathryn.  Kathryn, along with the rest of our team, did an outstanding job!  Guests signed in at a registration table that sat in front of our hexagon fringe backdrop.  The Knot Market Mixer RegistrationWe accented one of the walls with cylinders of white rock and branches.  Kathryn & I made sure to grab a signature cocktail from the glow bar to toast the night!  Cheers!
The Glow BarThe Bump (which is part of the Knot) Lounge featured a display from Pottery Barn Kids.  We set up a hexagon shaped gazebo creating a space to showcase product from Pottery Barn Kids.  In addition to the gazebo be created a lounge area for the Bump vendors to connect.  Bringing in geometric vases with white manzanita, short arrangements of ranunculus, and aqua glassybaby’s helped connect the space to the rest of the design.

Kathryn & I had a little fun with the Foto-Robot at the beginning and end of the evening.  Who doesn’t LOVE a box full of crazy props and a chance to go a little wild!?!

Aqua, Coral, Yellow & Hexagons: The Knot Market Mixer Seattle

We were thrilled to design and create the florals for The Seattle Knot Market Mixer back in April.  The event was held at the Melrose Market Studios in Seattle.  It was a great to work with a fantastic mix of vendors both old friends and new!

The Knot posted photos and a list of the vendors on their blog (click to view) as well as a highlights video (click to view).  I wanted to share some of the photos taken by B. Smart Photography.  All photos courtesy of B. Smart Photography.

The Knot Mixer 005

Our color palette was aqua, coral, and yellow with a geometric hexagon/honeycomb pattern.  We hand-painted the small lounge pillows as well as the runners between the couches.  Large vases held white rock with white branches hanging with vases of yellow freesia.  Yellow accents, white manzanita, and aqua glassybaby candles completed the lounge area.

The Knot Mixer 034

We custom cut vinyl logos and hexagons for the glow bar.

The Knot Mixer 040

Lady Yum provided amazing sweet treats that matched our color scheme and hexagon fringe backdrop perfectly.  We also placed a hexagon fringe backdrop at check-in.

The Knot Mixer 022

Floral accents of peachy coral ranunculus popped out of white rock lined vases
of green ball dianthus.

The Knot Mixer 027

One corner of the venue screamed for a pop of color so we created a vignette using a large yellow vase with white branches, hanging bulbs with freesia, a pop of ranunculus, and a geometric yellow vase with white manzanita.

I also took a few pics with my iPhone.  Look for those in tomorrow’s post!
