Yellow Spray Rose Boutonniere

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a boutonnière is a floral decoration worn by men, typically a single flower or bud. The word comes from the French word for buttonhole, which is the British term for a boutonnière.

We’ve made it to week 16 of our boutonniere a week series and we’ve gone classic but bright!  2 yellow spray roses with boxwood greens and dark gray satin wrap.  This boutonniere works for so many settings.  Country clubs, waterfront locations, and even rustic barn weddings!

Pink Carnation Boutonniere

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a boutonnière is a floral decoration worn by men, typically a single flower or bud. The word comes from the French word for buttonhole, which is the British term for a boutonnière.

It seems that black and white stripes are oh so popular with brides and grooms these days. A pale pink carnation with accents of black grass and striped ribbon is a great way to bring a touch of color to a black & white palette.

Pink, Yellow & Lime Green Real Wedding

I did not meet Brena until a few days before her wedding when I came to pick up mason jars from her.  Why did we not meet sooner?  Brena lives in Australia!  Originally from the Puget Sound area, Brena met and fell in love with Sean (who is Australian).  She planned their Thornewood Castle wedding while living down under.  We discussed ideas, shared photos, and eventually finalized all the details via email.  Many thanks to Fike Fotography for the images from this event.  I am absolutely loving the colors of these flowers!

Bouquets & Boutonnieres:
The guys all wore boutonnieres consisting of billy balls and a little boxwood greenery.  Brena’s bouquet had green spider mums, pink dahlias, pink freesia, green button mums, yellow tulips, billy balls, and bupleurum.  The bridesmaids carried bouquets similar to the brides but without the button mums and freesia.  We used gray satin ribbon to wrap the boutonnieres and bouquets.

Mason jars hung down the aisle and adorned the tables as centerpieces.  For the aisle we used spider mums with dahlias and bupleurum while the centerpieces had a trio of jars each with a single type of flowers in them.

Purple Tulip Boutonniere

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a boutonnière is a floral decoration worn by men, typically a single flower or bud. The word comes from the French word for buttonhole, which is the British term for a boutonnière.

When I think of spring in the Puget Sound, the tulip fields in Skagit Valley always come to mind.  Since we are well into spring, I thought it was fitting to share a tulip boutonniere this week.  Paired with bells of Ireland and Italian ruscus it is perfect for a spring event!

It’s week 13 of our boutonniere a week series!  Today we used whimsical green trick against a background of burlap.  A pinch of eucalyptus seeds and woven jute
finishes it off!

I am loving the bright pop of color in this hot pink ranunculus!  We paired it with two types of foliage (agonis & Italian ruscus) and finished it off with satin ribbon.

Hot Pink, Green & Gray Real Wedding

Wedding Party at Lord Hill Farms; photo by JFK Studios | flowers by Jen's Blossoms

I met Stephanie & James for the first time more than a year before their May 2013 wedding at Lord Hill Farms.  Working with them and getting to know them and their family was such fun.  Many thanks to JFK Studios for the images in this post!

Stephanie carried a bouquet of bright green hydrangea with hot pink gerbera daisies, hot pink spray roses, green hypericum berries, and lily grass.  The bridesmaids carried bouquets of bright green hydrangea, hot pink gerbera daisies, green hypericum berries, and lily grass.  We wrapped all the bouquets in striped grosgrain ribbon.

We created 2 large arrangements for either side of the altar using white hydrangea, bells of Ireland, hot pink roses and gerbera daisies, and greens.

Sticking with our floral scheme of green and white hydrangea, hot pink gerbera daisies, hot pink roses and spray roses, bells of Ireland, and hypericum berries, we created centerpieces in white cylinder vases as well as an elevated buffet piece.  The chargers, chair ties, napkins, and runner were from American Party Place.

Mini Cymbidium Orchid & Beargrass Boutonniere

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a boutonnière is a floral decoration worn by men, typically a single flower or bud. The word comes from the French word for buttonhole, which is the British term for a boutonnière.

This week we are posting our 10th boutonniere of the year!  Smaller than a traditional cymbidium orchid, this white mini cymbidium orchid still makes a great boutonniere.  We used a weaving technique with the beargrass to create the woven loop and wrapped the stems with beargrass.
