Cymbidium Orchid Boutonniere

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a boutonniere is a floral decoration worn by men, typically a single flower or bud. The word comes from the French word for buttonhole, which is the British term for a boutonnière.

It is week 3 of our Boutonniere a Week Series!  Say hello to this gorgeous copper cymbidium orchid boutonniere with accents of equisetum snake grass and agonis.  A simple satin ribbon wrap finishes it perfectly.

Pink & Lime Green Canterwood Wedding Instagram Pics!

I wanted to share a few Instagram pics of a wedding we did at Canterwood Golf & Country Club is past summer.  I blogged the gorgeous professional images yesterday (see here) but loved these quick pics I took after set-up.

A full view of the ceremony design.

Loving our acrylic table numbers, especially when they are next to candles.  Also loving this fresh summer centerpiece with sliced limes lining the vase!

Pink & Lime Green Canterwood Wedding

It was a gorgeous sunny day in July for the pink and lime green wedding at Canterwood Golf & Country Club in Gig Harbor.  We had such a great time working with Erin on her wedding to Bucky.  Many thanks to Jeff Marsh for the gorgeous images below!

Erin’s bouquet was stargazer lilies, gerbera daisies, peonies, mini green hydrangea, green button mums, lily grass and a hint of curly willow

The groom and groomsmen wore boutonnieres of white button mums accented with green hypericum berries and lily grass.

Erin’s bridesmaids carried bouquets of mini green hydrangea, green spider mums, gerbera daisies, fuchsia spray roses, white lisianthus, lily grass and a hint of curly willow.

For the ceremony we draped the back of the last row of chairs with smilax and green hanging amaranths and anchored the entrance to the aisle with 2 tall curly willow trees in faux slate planters finished with hydrangea.  Shepherd hooks with hanging arrangements lined the aisle leading up to the custom curly willow and hydrangea arch.

At the reception, centerpieces of white and green hydrangea, spider mums, roses, and gerbera daisies in lime lined glass cube vases added a fresh summer feel to each table.

Many happy wishes to Erin & Bucky, thank you for allowing us to share in your day!

Canterwood Open House!

Update: the time for the Canterwood Wedding Open House this Sunday (January 19th) has changed and is now from 1-4 pm.

The start of the new year is always an exciting time!  In the wedding industry we often kick off the new year with wedding shows, expos, and open houses.  We are so happy to design again this year for the Wedding Open House at Canterwood Golf & Country Club in Gig Harbor.  Last year we created this dreamy ceremony under their tented patio.

This year we are designing the tables in the reception space!  The open house is this Sunday, January 19th from 1-4 pm (this time has been updated from the original timeframe seen below of 2-5 pm).  Yes, I know the Seahawks vs. 49ers playoff game starts at 3:30 PST but there is plenty of time to stop by before kick-off!

White Ranunculus & Dusty Miller Boutonniere

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a boutonniere is a floral decoration worn by men, typically a single flower or bud. The word comes from the French word for buttonhole, which is the British term for a boutonnière.

This year we are going to showcase a boutonniere a week!  Kathryn, one of our designers,  and I will be creating looks ranging from classic & elegant to wild & crazy.  We’ll start with a beautiful, elegant white ranunculus paired with gold-dusted seeded eucalyptus and dusty miller.  A black satin ribbon wrap finishes it off.

Snowball Votive: Day 12

12 Days 2013 Header

It’s no secret that I love the snow!  That’s why I decided to create the perfect winter votive holder…a snowball votive!

Snowball Votive by Jen's Blossoms

Here’s what you need:

Snowball Votive Supplies

Small glass bubble bowl (mine is 3 inches), mod podge, epsom salt, brush & glitter!

What to do:

  1. I prepped my bubble bowl with a little tape around the edges to make sure the mod podge didn’t drip down into the bowl.
  2. Generously coat the bowl with mod podge.
  3. Pour epsom salt into a bowl and roll coated bowl in salt.  Allow to dry.
  4. Once dry, I dabbed on more mod podge and dusted the bowl with a hint of glitter and a bit more salt.  Allow to dry.

Decorative Cork Tree: Day 11

12 Days 2013 HeaderIt seems that I am always seeing these super cool cone-shaped trees made of various things at the holidays…burlap, sticks, ornaments, glitter, and so much more.  I thought, why not make one out of cork circles!

Decorative Cork Tree

Here’s what you need:

Decorative Cork Tree Supplies

Styrofoam cone (I used a 24″ one), thin cork, circle punch (mine is a 2.5″), straight pins, and glitter glue.

What to do:

  1. Cut circles from cork and add a thin line of glitter glue around 1/2 the circle.
  2. Run a 1″ piece of cork around the base of the cone.  This will give the appearance that the cone is made of cork.
  3. Begin to attach circles to cone with straight pins slightly overlapping as needed.
  4. Continue to work up the cone until finished!

Decorative Cork Tree StepsThis looks great on a mantle, next to the fireplace or even on a buffet or table.
It is perfect below next to our JOY Marquee from Day 9.

Joy Marquee Lights: Day 9

12 Days 2013 Header

If you’ve read any of my post from earlier years you will find that a favorite word around my house, especially at the holidays, is joy.  Ornaments with the word hang all around the house and some end up staying put year round.

Marquee lights are a huge trend now so I thought, why not make a “Joy” marquee!

Joy Marquee by Jen's Blossoms

The marquee is sitting on our Gilded Holiday Tray from day 7 and our cute
Santa? Glass Figurine from day 5 is the perfect accent!

Here’s what you need:

Joy Marquee Supplies

Letters, small strand of lights (I used white lights with a white cord), white paint, iridescent glitter paint, a pencil, paintbrush, and cutting blade.

What to do:

  1. Begin by removing the back of the letters.
  2. Measure and poke holes in the letters using a pencil.
  3. Paint the letters.  I used 2 coats plus a coat of glitter.
  4. Push the lights through the holes.
  5. Plug in and enjoy!

Happy Holidays!
