Navy, Apple Green & Fuchsia: Tabletop Inspiration

One of the local spring wedding shows took place back in March.  These shows allow us to join forces with local vendors, we worked with American Party Place (a rental company), to dream up fun color schemes and wedding designs to display for brides, grooms, and their entourages.   Our color scheme for the March show was classic navy blue, apple green and fuchsia.

The main display table sat under a white garden arbor.  Navy satin linens with fuchsia accents set a base for our arrangement of green hydrangea, mini green hydrangea, green spider mums, fuchsia roses, looped bear grass, and trailing jasmine vine.

Navy, Apple Green & Fuchsia Tabletop

Another tabletop design (below left) consisted of a tall cylinder of granny smith apples topped with an arrangement of hydrangea, pieris japonica, fuchsia roses, and green roses. An apple with a name flag anchored each place setting (below top right).  A mixed arrangement of green hydrangea, green hypericum berries, fuchsia roses, and bear grass decorated another table (below bottom right).

Navy, Apple Green & Fuchsia Tabletop

A few other arrangements include a trio of crystal candles holders surrounded by short arrangements of green ball dianthus and spray roses (below top left), a cylinder with submerged green spider mums surrounded by a wreath of white carnations and bear grass (below right), and our new hanging vases with fuchsia freesia (below bottom left).

Navy, Apple Green & Fuchsia TabletopWe always have a great time meeting new brides and grooms!  Many thanks to American Party Place for having us help with the design of your booth!

Chambers Bay Golf Course: Venue Spotlight

Last week I was talking with Jamie Fay from Chambers Bay about their upcoming Wedding Showcase.  We were wrapping up details for the display tables (we are designing 5 unique tables again this year) and planning a ceremony set up for the patio area.  I love that every time I am at Chambers Bay it feels different…the landscape is the same but the view paints a unique backdrop for each event.  I asked Jamie a few questions about the venue and what makes it special.  Thanks to Wallflower Photography for capturing great images of our work out at Chambers Bay; first 2 photos below courtesy of Wallflower.

Q: What sets Chambers Bay apart from other golf course wedding venues?
A: Location, Location, Location!  The Event Pavilion features panoramic views of our beautiful championship golf course, the Puget Sound, neighboring islands and the Olympic Mountains.  In addition, we offer extremely competitive pricing for outdoor, water view weddings and reception.  We pride ourselves on our service and catering, and attention to detail is our team’s number one job.

Q: Do you offer any packages, if so, what is included?
A: We offer a free round of golf for our Bride and Groom when they book.  We also offer a Bachelor party golf package as well. We partner with the Hotel Murano for out-of-town guests.

Q: What do couples love most about Chambers Bay?
A: Our couples fall in love with the view first.  After that, our food and our staff.  We know how important this day is in their lives, and we are honored to be a part of it.

Chambers Bay Purple WeddingPhoto above by Jen’s Blossoms; reception under the tented pavilion.

Q: Are there any current reviews/messages from brides & grooms you would like to share?
A: Yes!

“Jamie and the entire Chambers Bay staff were so easy to work with that it made planning the wedding an absolute dream. They accommodated my special requests such as allowing us to bring in beer we brewed for the reception. You won’t find a better view, and the staff that worked the reception were professional and fun – especially Lauren. The prices are very fair considering the quality of the food and the gorgeous view. They set up a golf cart so we could go around and take photos. Everything we needed, they made it work. Definitely look into having your wedding here – you will love it!”
~Erin

“Chambers Bay was the site of both our ceremony (patio) and reception (pavilion). It is such a beautiful location – our guests, especially the out-of-towners, were blown away! The staff at Chambers is so nice – they worked with us and accommodated all of our requests. On the day of, our main contact, Brian, even drove the groom, me, and the photographers in a golf cart down to the bridge and the beach to take photos – I’m so excited to see them because the view was amazing!”

The Chambers Bay Wedding Showcase is being held on Sunday April 28th from 1-4 PM.

Pink, Aqua & Gold: Tabletop Inspiration

A couple of times a year we join forces with a local rental company, American Party Place, and create a booth for a wedding expo.  The spring expo is happening this weekend where, with American Party Place, we will be creating a booth anchored in classic navy and popped with hot pink and apple green.  But, before I get carried away with that color scheme and all my ideas I wanted to take a moment and share a few images from the Winter Expo where we worked with a palette of pink, aqua and antique gold.

Pink, Aqua & Gold Centerpieces

For our main display table (above) I used arrangements of hydrangea, ranunculus, dusty miller, peonies, lisianthus, and roses gathered down the center with crystal candle holders.  The bouquet above is white hydrangea, ranunculus, roses, lisianthus, and dusty miller hand-tied and wrapped with antique gold ribbon and pearls.

Pink, Aqua & Gold 2

The elevated centerpiece (above left) is an arrangement of white hydrangea, roses, mini green hydrangea, and tuberose in a tall silver vase.  Another centerpiece we did was an up-lit cylinder (above bottom right) of submerged freesia surrounded by a wreath of hydrangea, roses, and freesia.  I couldn’t resist including a photo of the gorgeous peonies we had for that weekend!

I will share the designs from our navy, hot pink, and apple green color palette soon!
Have a great weekend!

Bright Flowers, Rustic Birch Bark & Feathered Masks: Real Wedding

I feel spring fast approaching here in the Pacific Northwest.  I am looking forward to warmth and wedding season.  This weekend I want to share a wedding from last summer.  It is bright!  The day was gorgeous!
The design scheme…New Orleans meets the Pacific Northwest!

The Location:
Tacoma Country & Golf Club

The Photographer:
Boston Harbor Photography
All photos below courtesy of Boston Harbor unless otherwise noted.

The Flowers:
Stargazer lilies, yellow mini calla lilies, yellow and purple freesia, yellow tulips, fuchsia garden roses, stephanotis, orange spray roses, lime green hydrangea, purple irises, fuchsia roses, dahlias, purple lisianthus, variegated pittosporum and bupleurum.

The Bridal Bouquet & Boutonnieres:
A vibrant hand-tied bouquet of stargazer lilies, purple freesia, yellow tulips, orange spray roses, stephanotis, fuchsia garden roses and bupleurum was tied with white satin ribbon. The grooms boutonniere was a yellow mini calla lily with variegated greens.

Bright Bouquet & Mini Calla Boutonniere || Boston Harbor PhotographyThe Ceremony:
We draped the aisle in sheer fabric.  Posies of stargazer lilies, purple lisianthus, orange spray roses and yellow mini calla lilies tied with lavender ribbon accented the draping.  Fuchsia rose petals completed the aisle design.  For the altar we draped a square structure with sheer draping and added larger arrangements to the front poles and finished with fuchsia rose petals.

Ceremony with sheer draping and fuchsia petals.

Bistro Tables & Centerpieces:
Small arrangements of green hydrangea, fuchsia roses, yellow freesia and purple irises in glass cylinder with a birch band decorated the bistro tables during cocktail hour.

Arrangements of irises, roses, hydrangea & freesia

We designed 3 different table centerpieces.  The first was a glass cube with a birch bark and rustic twine wrap topped with an arrangement of green hydrangea, dahlias, garden roses, lisianthus and bupleurum.  The second centerpiece was an arrangement of green hydrangea, dahlias, garden roses, lisianthus and bupleurum in a birch bark vase.  The last centerpiece was tall flower tower vases with curly willow and hanging orchids.

The bride ordered feathered masks that were placed at each place setting!

So, what elements were specific to the Pacific Northwest and which ones specific to New Orleans?  Rustic birch bark, vine wrapped wire and local dahlias gave a nod to the Northwest while colors including purple, green and yellow/gold were used in each floral arrangement bringing the vibrant feel of New Orleans to the Northwest.  We also used the purple iris in some of our arrangements.  The iris is known as a Louisiana wildflower and it also mimics the shape of a fleur-de-lis.

I took the following images of additional arrangements and decor we provided.  The first collage shows a trio of arrangements we placed in alcoves throughout the space, the bistro arrangements as well as the low arrangements placed on console tables in the club.  The second photo is a close up of the mantle decor.  We used smilax greens with single flowers, feathered masks and birch wrapped cylinders of floating candles.

It was a joy to work with this couple on their wedding.  We wish them years of love, laughter & happiness!  Here is one final image from Boston Harbor Photography.
Simply gorgeous!

Lavender, Champagne & Baby’s Breath: Ceremony Design

At the end of January we were asked to dream up and create a ceremony for the Canterwood Gold & Country Club Wedding Open House.  I immediately gravitated towards a soft color palette of lavender and champagne with clouds of baby’s breath lining the aisle, suspended bird and other wire cages, a whimsical linen for the guest book table and an overall peaceful and almost dreamlike feeling.

Many thanks to Wallflower Photography for photographing our design

A lavender satin linen with gold floral overlay welcomed guests while mini birdcages and roses suspended with satin ribbon hung from a large branch arching over the table.

Clouds of baby’s breath line the aisle and lavender petals curl towards the altar.

Trees of baby’s breath anchor each side of the altar.  Wire cages with lavender roses hang from satin ribbon creating a backdrop for the ceremony.  A lavender satin linen covers the table where a wine ceremony will take place.

Canterwood Golf & Country Club: Venue Spotlight

I recently talked with Rebecca Magyar from Canterwood Golf & Country Club about what sets Canterwood apart from other wedding and event venues.  My interview with her follows as well as photos from an Open House we participated in showing a few table designs.  Photos are courtesy of Van Wyhe Photography.

Van Wyhe Photography Canterwood

Q: Rebecca, what sets Canterwood apart from other golf & country clubs as wedding and event venues?
A: Besides having the most beautiful scenery and elegant reception space? Me of course!!!  I love my brides and grooms and have been planning weddings here in the Puget Sound for almost 15 years now.  Having a professional help you out with the planning of a wedding at no extra cost is a huge value and I believe the extra attention and care makes us stand out from other golf and country clubs.

Q: What packages do you offer?
A: We are so proud to offer a package that provides all the basics of the day plus all the pretty things like chair covers, chargers and satin linens in the brides colors (see information below)

Van Wyhe Photography CanterwoodQ: Do you have any current reviews or quotes we could share?
A: Yes!

“Rebecca was absolutely wonderful, wedding planning was not exciting for me and very overwhelming, she saw this and made it so easy for me.  She got all my rentals quickly and was very good at communicating with me via phone/email with any concerns or questions.  My day was amazing thanks to Rebecca and her wonderful staff at Canterwood.  Thank you!!!!!
~Emily

“It was an absolute pleasure working with Rebecca for our daughters wedding at Canterwood.  The food was amazing, the service was very good.  The guests just gushed about how nice it all was.  They had the reception area beautifully setup and assisted with seating for the sit down dinner.  I highly recommend and would go with Canterwood Clubhouse again.  It was exquisite.  Thank you Rebecca for making it seamless.
~Kathleen
