Jen Harthorn

My name is Jen and I am the owner of Jen’s Blossoms, a floral design studio specializing in weddings, special events and corporate accounts. Flowers are present at many celebrations and life changing moments. It is an honor to share in these celebrations…to have a part in the memories!  What a privilege!

When I think back to my first experiences with flowers I remember carefully watering my Grandma Linda’s roses on hot summer days. I remember my other Grandma resoaking the floral foam from arrangements she had received and letting me cut flowers and leaves from her yard to make new arrangements. One Easter, my Grandpa Bill gave all the “ladies” of the family giant potted mums. I was probably 7 years old and I could barely hold the huge plant he gave me. It was covered in yellow blooms! I received roses and carnations after each dance recital and there was the day that my brother came up with the idea that I could do the flowers for his wedding. I laughed but then ended up doing his flowers (bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages and centerpieces). It was my first attempt at wedding flowers and it is what launched Jen’s Blossoms!

At Jen’s Blossoms we love flowers, celebrations, laughing and creating new memories!

Hi Jen, congratulations on your beautiful blooms and your business. I would love to hear more of your story! I am looking to pursue my own business in flowers! I had a 9-5 job, but it wasn’t until I moved to Canada with my partner that I was able to follow my passion for working with flowers by taking minimum wage and learning at a local flower shop. Fortunately, it is a lovely shop and was very busy with weddings too. In the past season we completed over 200 weddings! Anyway, after a year here, I return to Australia and would love to start my own business. Of course I am nervous about this and would love to hear more about how your lovely little business evolved from its humble beginnings of your brothers wedding! Any tips and advice? Thanks Jen!
